About White House Visitor Center
The White House Visitor Center, operated by the National Park Service, is located a few blocks from the White House itself and offers an accessible way to learn about the executive mansion without a tour reservation. Exhibits cover the building's architecture, its role as home and workplace to every U.S. president, and artifacts and stories from various first families. A 30-minute film provides historical context, and rangers are on hand to answer questions and provide practical information for those hoping to arrange an official White House tour through their member of Congress. The center is free to enter and does not require advance reservations, making it a convenient stop even for visitors unable to secure a tour of the White House itself.
