About The Barnacle Historic State Park
The Barnacle Historic State Park preserves the home and grounds of Ralph Middleton Munroe, a prominent Miami pioneer, yacht designer, and environmentalist. Built in 1891, the house is a rare example of Coconut Grove's early architecture, nestled amidst lush tropical hammock on the shores of Biscayne Bay. Ralph Munroe was instrumental in the development of Coconut Grove and was a passionate advocate for preserving the natural beauty of the area. His home, a five-sided, one-story structure initially, was later expanded with a second story, reflecting the growth of his family and the community. The park also features a replica of Munroe's boathouse and offers glimpses into late 19th and early 20th-century life in South Florida. Located at 3485 Main Hwy, Miami, FL 33133, The Barnacle Historic State Park is open to visitors from Thursday to Monday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Access the park's official website at http://thebarnacle.org/ for additional information on tours and special events. Please note that the park is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
