About Coral Castle
Coral Castle is an astonishing outdoor monument in Homestead, Florida, created entirely from colossal pieces of coral rock. This unique attraction features intricate sculptures, towering walls, and perfectly balanced gates, all hewn and positioned by one man. Visitors can explore a collection of astronomical alignments, carved furniture, and other curious formations, all showcasing an incredible feat of engineering and perseverance. The entire complex was built by Edward Leedskalnin over several decades, beginning in 1923, as a tribute to a lost love. What makes Coral Castle particularly intriguing is the mystery surrounding its construction; Leedskalnin, a man of slight stature, claimed to have used only simple tools and knowledge of the "laws of weight and leverage" to move and sculpt the multi-ton coral blocks. To this day, engineers and scientists are baffled by how he managed to create such an elaborate structure without modern machinery. Coral Castle is located at 28655 S Dixie Hwy, Homestead, FL 33033. It is open Thursday through Monday, with extended hours on Friday and Saturday evenings. It is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. For the most up-to-date information on operating hours and admission, visitors are encouraged to check the official website at https://coralcastle.com/.
