About The 606
The 606, officially known as the Bloomingdale Trail, is a multi-use linear park that spans 2.7 miles across several dynamic Chicago neighborhoods. This innovative green space features a paved path for walking, running, and biking, alongside natural areas, public art installations, and accessible parks at ground level. Originally a historic railway corridor, the Bloomingdale Line, The 606 was transformed into an urban oasis. Its design incorporates green infrastructure, promoting biodiversity and stormwater management, while also connecting communities that were once divided by the rail tracks. The project involved extensive community input and collaboration to create a vibrant public space. Visitors can access The 606 via various access points and parks located along its length, including the main entrance near 1805 N Ridgeway Ave. The trail is open daily from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM, providing ample opportunity to explore its unique features, public art, and diverse urban landscapes. Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking or running, and bikes are welcome.
