About Crown Fountain
The Crown Fountain is a contemporary art installation and a popular public space featuring two 50-foot glass block towers that display digitally projected faces of Chicago residents. Water cascades from the towers, creating a reflecting pool between them, and periodically spouts from the mouths of the faces, inviting interaction and play. Designed by artist Jaume Plensa, the Crown Fountain opened in 2004 and quickly became an iconic part of Millennium Park. It is celebrated for its innovative use of technology, its engagement with the public, and its representation of the diverse faces of Chicago's community. The fountain operates seasonally, typically from spring through fall. Located at 201 E Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60603, the Crown Fountain is easily accessible within Millennium Park. Visitors can enjoy the display, cool off in the water during warmer months, or simply observe the dynamic interplay of art and urban life. The fountain is open daily, typically from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
