About Metropolitan Museum of Art
Founded in 1870 and anchoring Museum Mile on Fifth Avenue, The Met holds Egyptian temples, European paintings, American period rooms, arms and armour, and the rooftop garden overlooking Central Park. The collection is far too large for one visit; most travellers pick two or three wings.
